XXVI Forum Barcelona Road Safety
The human dimension of Road Safety. Road accidents are one of the main causes of mortality in our society. Thousands of people lose their lives each year or suffer serious physical or psychological consequences as a result of traffic accidents. At the 26th edition of the Road Safety Forum we want to emphasize the fact that road safety is closely linked to everything we do in daily life. And, in this edition, we also want to pay attention to the gender perspective, the analysis of the differential factors in mobility and road safety due to gender.
The human dimension of road safety
Road accidents are one of the main causes of mortality in our society. Thousands of people lose their lives each year or suffer serious physical or psychological consequences as a result of traffic accidents.
At the 26th edition of the Road Safety Forum we want to emphasize the fact that road safety is closely linked to everything we do in daily life. And, in this edition, we also want to pay attention to the gender perspective, the analysis of the differential factors in mobility and road safety due to gender.
On the other hand, the incorporation of intelligent safety elements in vehicles is already a reality. Alert systems for distractions, emergency braking, signal detection, elimination of blind spots, night vision, etc., become very useful instruments to prevent accidents and to analyze and evaluate accidents. We also want to reflect on the use of technology and driver assistance systems.
Improving road safety implies incorporating the concept of intelligent mobility at the service of people and their responsibility as drivers. The human factor is behind more than 80% of traffic accidents; Reducing this figure outright is one of our highest priorities.
