Slow City 2023

Every fase

Slow City is our pioneering project to raise awareness about reducing speed to 30km/h.

This year we separated it into three phases:

  • 1st Phase: Sensitization of the youth of the participating universities for the making of the video.
  • 2nd Phase: Publication and dissemination of the winning video, with a visit to Slovenia.
  • 3rd Phase: Dissemination and use as pedagogical material.

There was also another novelty, and that is the participation of Slovenian students in the project with their trip to Barcelona. Let’s see a little how it was!

From September 27 to 30, the Slovenian students who won the #SlowCity contest of the 2023 edition visited us. They had an extensive agenda full of educational, cultural and leisure activities.

On September 28, they shared their experience at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where they presented their video with Spanish subtitles, which shows how we can live in a more calm and respectful way if we reduce the speed to 30km/h in the city.

In the session they had the opportunity to listen to the testimony of Vicente Sanchez, president of the entity.

They also had the opportunity to meet the UAB students with whom they could visit the city.

They also learned about the activities of the P(A)T association, participating in our walk with a focus on road safety, an original way to learn about the different mobility contexts that coexist in the city, such as the Consejo de Ciento greenway or the Enrique Granados pedestrian street, in contrast to Aragón street.

They also had time to visit several museums and the main tourist attractions of the city. It was a very enriching experience and we congratulate you on your presentation and the quality of your project!

The following week, this year’s winning UAB students traveled to Slovenia from October 5 to 8, where they presented the results of the project at the annual Conference of the Master of Psychology at the University of Ljubljana.

There, they entered the world of security in this European country with the help of P(A)T’s sister NGO, Zavod Varna Pot, which accompanied them in their daily lives.

Below, we present the winning video.

Finally, we are in the last phase, since this summer the last phase of the Slow city project was carried out, which consists of awareness-raising activities with the winning videos as support material to raise awareness among young people.

We have reached more than 150 young people from different locations, including the children of the Socio-Educational Intervention Service of Salou.
