Monument to traffic victims in Barcelona

On April 17, 2019, and at the request of victims’ associations such as P(A)T, the Barcelona City Council presented a permanent memorial to traffic victims in tribute to all those who have seen their lives cut short due to traffic accidents.

The memorial is a recognition of traffic victims and a way of not forgetting those killed and injured in traffic accidents and their families. It aims to be a gathering space where all those affected can meet, in addition to calling the attention of society to the scourge of traffic accidents.

The memorial is a steel bench 11 meters long that with a series of punched letters form a sentence, which can be read with the projection of the shadows when the sun hits it, to one side or the other depending on the time of day. . The phrase that has been chosen is a fragment of the poem Canción de “La muerte callada” by Salvador Espriu.
