As a result of the publication of the statement, the entities for sustainable mobility P(A)T, BACC, Catalunya Camina and the PTP met with Albert Batlle, fifth deputy mayor and security councilor, and Laia Bonet, mobility councilor of the Barcelona City Council.
The participating associations ask what has been the criteria to reduce the number of radars planned to control speeding in the city and make the city 30 effective.
Enforcing the regulations is an obligation and guaranteeing the fundamental right to physical integrity and security is a duty of the administrations.
The objective of the entities dedicated to sustainable mobility is to reduce the accident rate and favor coexistence between users, a fact that is achieved by reducing the speed of circulation.
We also remember that radars only bother those who do not comply with the rules and therefore the implementation of radars does not have to worry the majority of citizens.
The council promised to meet again in October 2022 to review the speed reduction strategy in the city and the effectiveness of speed cameras in changing habits. We will keep you informed.
