On March 15, we had the pleasure of participating in the conference “Access to justice and non-discrimination: proposals from the local world.”

It became obvious throughout the day, above all, the need for greater coordination between associations and administration, since we are the entities that know most closely the daily situation of people and what the barriers are. In addition, there was in-depth discussion of investing in restorative justice that puts the victim at the center without re-victimizing and the importance of expanding the range of options with which to truly solve a conflict from its roots and not just alleviate its consequences.

All the round tables were very enriching, with a diversity of points of view and entities that gave voice to the battles that some people must face for the simple fact of who they are, what color their skin is, what gender their partner is. ,…

In our case, victims of traffic accidents find themselves helpless by the system, without real support during this complicated grief or listening to their pain. We know from the data provided by the Congress of Deputies itself that in 2021 in Spain there were 1,004 fatalities but only 41 trafficking victims were treated by the Office for Attention to Victims of Crime. That is why we ask ourselves: how can these figures be acceptable?

Much of this lack of protection is due to the limitations in the application of the Crime Victim Statute, and that is why we want to change it so that it expressly includes victims of road violence.
