P(A)T signs the Citizen Agreement for a Barcelona without Motorcycle casualties promoted by the City Council and supported by the main entities related to mobility.
The event was chaired by Xavier Trias, Mayor of Barcelona, who said, “is an objective of the town that no victims of traffic and work to drop to zero victims the accidents in the city” and the importance of the agreement beyond a statement of intent, has concrete commitments. The message is addressed to drivers of all vehicles to show the utmost prudence and respect the rules. It is not just a matter of civility and coexistence, it is to preserve life.
After signing the agreement, the two main associations of prevention and victims of trafficking, P(A)T and Stop Accidents said a few words to the audience. Elisabeth Ibars, president of Stop Accidents, talked about the importance of emphasize awareness and education to achieve the goal of zero victims. Ole Thorson, president of P(A)T in his speech welcomed the agreement and the need for dialogue with and between all users of public space to increase respect and get a coexistence that is more to share than to compete. He also pointed the need to respond to victims and greater attention to the group of pedestrians. Finally, he asked the complicity of all to work for zero vision and get no deaths or injuries in the mobility of Barcelona, thanking the City Council initiative and all signatories supporting road safety and victims.
