A FRESH BEER OR SANGRIA ALSO AFFECTS

In 2022, alcohol appeared as a concurrent or triggering factor in 67% of fatal accidents that occurred on interurban roads during the early hours of weekends and holidays.

In summer, alcohol consumption becomes more common and daily journeys tend to change, for this reason it is essential to remember the danger of driving under the influence of alcohol and other substances.

Although it does not affect everyone equally, alcohol distorts the perception of reality, alters the ability to drive and react to traffic, and increases the risk of harm to other passengers and other vehicles exponentially. Indeed, alcohol-related traffic accidents are the leading cause of death in many countries.

In addition, alcohol can begin to be detected in the blood within 5 minutes of ingestion and reaches its maximum level between 30 and 90 minutes. From this moment on, it begins to slowly disappear from the blood until it is completely eliminated. This is why we should not drive even with “a beer half an hour ago” because any amount of alcohol increases the risk of an accident.

As Vicente Sánchez, president of P(A)T, explains in the Antena3 Noticias report, “if they cannot stop drinking, they can stop driving when they have drunk (…) because no one benefits, we all lose.”

For this reason, at P(A)T we are committed to zero tolerance for alcohol and other drugs, since from the first drop we risk our lives, ours and that of all other road users.
