Zero vision in the city
Cities that promote walking and cycling over private vehicles are also more attractive, have less traffic congestion and a higher quality of life.
EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK is celebrated from September 16 to 22 with the motto #CaminaConNosotros and this year focuses on the safety of pedestrians and cyclists and the benefits it has on our health, the environment and our account banking! Active forms of transportation like walking or cycling are emission-free modes and help keep our hearts and bodies healthy.
Cities that promote walking and cycling over private vehicles are also more attractive, have less traffic congestion and a higher quality of life.
In terms of personal health benefits, studies show that cyclists live an average of 2 years longer than non-cyclists and have 15% fewer sick days off work, while brisk walking for 25 minutes a day can add up to 7 years of life!
Zero vision in cities could be achieved by 2030
This is not wishful thinking, the zero target could be achieved on urban roads and streets by 2030. Today, many cities have already achieved it. In this link you can visit the interactive DEKRA map which shows the European cities in which there have been zero people killed by road accidents in 2017:
